Cofely contributes to the first sustainability label for new buildings

BREEAM-NL New Buildings is the first sustainability label for new buildings – applicable to the Dutch market – with international standing. The Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) recently launched this evaluation system. The DGBC is a non-profit organisation that strives for a continuous, advancing process towards making the Dutch built-up environment sustainable. Cofely participates in DGBC and, as technical service provider, has made a large intrinsic contribution to the establishment of BREEAM-NL.

BREEAM-NL makes sustainable buildings visible in the market. “Buildings with the hallmark guarantee a higher return on investment than non-sustainable buildings”, comments DGBC Board Chairman Jaap Gillis. “The BREEAM-NL New buildings label is a label for new buildings that exceed the Dutch national regulations regarding sustainability. With BREEAM-NL New Buildings, public and private parties that do more than is legally prescribed can distinguish themselves from parties that use the generally accepted regulations as a basis.”

The DGBC expects to present the first official certificate before the end of 2009. The DGBC is also working on a sustainability label for existing buildings
A BREEAM-NL Expert can advise your organisation about the certification of buildings according to BREEAM-NL standards and can help you to prepare for an assessment. Cofely has one of these experts in-house.
