Cofely speaks on Ballast Water Treatment Technology Conference

06 September 10 |

Cofely is one of the key note speakers at the Ballast Water Treatment Technology Conference that will take place on 23rd and 24th September 2010 in London. At the latest in 2016 existing vessels will have to dispose of a ballast water treatment system. Congress’ visitors will be informed about the latest developments in the field of regulations and technologies.

Leading specialists from the maritime industry share their knowledge and experience at the Ballast Water Treatment Technology Conference. BWT plant will typically be the second most expensive item of installed equipment onboard a vessel. Shipping companies that specify the wrong system will not be able to trade. Recognising this – and in response to industry demand – the conference is fully focused on providing operators with the information they need to select the most appropriate long-term solution for their fleet as the IMO Ballast Water Convention approaches entry into force. How much maintenance and crew intervention will be required? Will your vessel be the real testing ground for treatment technologies that could become obsolete?

Jolanda Matthijssen of Cofely Marine & Offshore speaks about challenges and points of interests while installing on existing vessels. Cofely has rebuilt a lot of ships on rough oil and uses this knowledge and expertise for retrofits of ballast water treatment systems.

Cofely manages the entire installation process of ballast water treatment systems from independent advice of the most suitable system to realisation and maintenance. Thanks to the 3D-scan our specialists will be able to do all the necessary preparations for installation behind their desks, while your vessel is sailing. By optimising logistics we decrease installation time. This way shipping companies can save costs considerably. Cofely is currently installing a ballast water treatment system for a new vessel via Wagenborg Shipping.
