Schiphol outsources maintenance and management of airport building infrastructure to Cofely
Schiphol Nederland and Cofely have signed a five-year agreement with a total contract value of approximately 40 million euros. The agreement covers the maintenance and management, the necessary adaptations and modifications and the project-based work on the building infrastructure of the airport’s terminals and annexes. In addition, Cofely will be assuming responsibility for the installations in the planned new structures on the Schiphol site. At the same time, Cofely will be expanding its existing services at the terminal complex and will be collaborating on a more strategic basis with the airport.
In a European tender procedure, Cofely came out on top as the best party. Cofely’s international expertise in the area of maintenance and management at international airports played a decisive role in its selection. For example, Cofely Airport Services is responsible for the maintenance and management of 35 international airports across the globe. Furthermore, Cofely will utilise its worldwide expertise in the area of sustainable technology to contribute to the enhancement of the airport’s sustainability performance. In addition, the further improvement of the social and work climate at Schiphol – for employees and passengers alike – will play a key role in Cofely’s service.
Maximum reliability and availability
‘We expect a great deal from this agreement with Cofely. Cofely guarantees an effective balance between preventative and corrective maintenance in the short term and investments in the long term. This will be combined with the maximum reliability and availability of our technical installations and will allow Schiphol to fully focus on its primary processes,’ says Birgit Otto, Asset Management Director at Schiphol Nederland. ‘Cofely is a party that pro-actively thinks along with us about the further professionalisation of Asset Management within our terminal complex and how to increase the airport’s sustainability.’
‘This new agreement allows Cofely to strengthen its collaboration with Schiphol and expand the strategic partnership with an integrated offer of services: from design to maintenance and implementation,’ stresses Hans van Happen, member of the Cofely Nederland Executive Team. ‘The result of our strong focus on the maintenance market is a substantial expansion of our order portfolio. This not only applies to the real estate sector, but to the industrial sector as well. The current partnership with Schiphol is an excellent case in point. We are extremely happy with this agreement and are convinced that with our multidisciplinary approach of maintenance and management, we can offer the airport actual added value. Cofely has a strong track record in the international aviation industry. Naturally, we will also be implementing all the experiences gained during these projects at Schiphol.’
