Cofely and Lievensberg Hospital collect EUR 25,000 for the Friends of Lievensberg Hospital
During the seventh sponsor golf day at Steenhoven Country Club in Postel Cofely and Lievensberg Hospital collected over EUR 25,000 for the Friends of Lievensberg Foundation. The money is being used to fund projects to make the stay of patients more pleasant. The outpatient department for pain control has received two relaxation armchairs for patients while the dialysis department has received various works of art.
With 367 beds, Lievensberg Hospital is one of the Netherlands’ medium-sized regional hospitals. The hospital has over 100 medical specialists and approximately 1,300 employees. It provides care in the western part of North Brabant and in Tholen and Sint Philipsland. ‘The Friends of Lievensberg Foundation’ was set up to make the stays of patients, their families and friends more pleasant. The foundation implements projects that the hospital is unable to fund itself. Examples in this regard are projects ensuring a homely surrounding for the day centres, child-friendly waiting rooms in the outpatient department and the purchasing of audiovisual equipment for various departments. Cofely has been the main sponsor and co-organiser of the annual golf tournament for four years.
‘In addition to the provision of good care, the aspect of hospitality is increasingly coming to the fore. We’ve successfully implemented numerous projects in recent years, ranging from welcome bags for patients who have been admitted to scalp coolers that help to minimise hair loss as a result of chemotherapy,’ Rob Moelker, initiator of the annual golf event, explains.
A tangible contribution
In the words of Hans de Rijk, Director of Operations Cofely Zuid Nederland, ‘Cofely has a long service record in the healthcare sector and Lievensberg Hospital has been one of our most important customers for many years. As a technical service provider, we are keenly aware of the issues that hospitals have to deal with and take a constructive and proactive approach to resolving them. We are always ready to fulfil our responsibility to society, even if the issues in question do not directly affect our services. As co-organiser of the golf tournament, we have made a tangible contribution to the important work of the ‘Friends of Lievensberg Foundation’ and we are very proud to have collected the amount that we did. We also have to thank a large number of companies for their part in this fantastic result.’
